SIGIL
Capstone Game Creation: Project Manager
This is the title screen of the game I and a group of other students are creating; Sigil.
Sigil is a stylised survival game that focuses on crafting structures and a strategic level up system based around magic abilities and other various buffs.
It is being built in Unreal Engine 4 for the PC.
For this portion of our project, I had been elected Project Manager.
design process
The brief was to create a game in a small group that could be featured in PAX2021.
Teaming up with students from the game programming degree and other fellow artists, our first attempt was THE REPORT; a horror game.
Here are some concepts
I have done.
6 weeks into our progress we all came to the conclusion that The Report was just not for us.
We ran into many hiccups but learnt so much from what had already been achieved.
A group member soon pitched a new idea and thus Sigil was born!
The beginnings of our game were created in Whimsical.
These are the three main features of our game.
We all agreed that these three elements are very versatile and can fit into everyone's style of gameplay. We want to highlight that this is a game you play with friends!
Game Story/Lore
The player has been chosen by the magic gods to protect what is left of their magical connection to the land. when the player begins in the temple of Gods, they're officially the link between man and magic. The player is presented with 6 choices to aid their journey; 3 tools and 3 weapons. The gods have mentioned that the previous chosen ones have failed over the years and what is left of their energy source is the player's only link to the magic world- the magic circle.
Enemies will sense the circle once it is place, so it's important to protect it. Without it, darkness wins and you lose your connection to the magic realm. This is why building is a crucial component of the game.
This is a quick run-through of our game in it's most recent alpha build.

After we had switched plans, I became the Project Manager and a friend, Sean, became the Creative Director as it had been his original game pitch.
I learnt a lot about managing such a diverse range of people and how to adapt all their work ethics into one smooth production plan.
The key project management tools we used were Whimsical, Discord
and Trello.
Sigil's main trailer was a piece I worked on with two other students in my team. We were given a lot of positive feedback regarding video editing and music choice
To find more relating to Sigil, we have created an itch.io page here
